I wanted to see just how fast some simple kettlebell swings would increase my heart rate. So, I put my heart monitor on and checked my pulse. My resting heart rate was 51. I’m in pretty good shape if I do say so myself. So, without stretching or warming up, I got up and grabbed my 44lb kettlebell and did 25 kettlebell swings. The result… it increased my heart rate to 111 beats per minute after only 25 kettlebell swings. Then I decided to do another set after waiting 30 seconds and my heart rate was up to 127 beats per minute after the second set.
Bottom line is kettlebell workouts work. Not only was my heart rate up, but I was working every muscle from head to toe.
